Historically speaking.... by Kimi- Dallas, TX
Equal rights for everyone. There was a time in history that as a woman I couldn't vote. There was a time in history that my interracial marriage was illegal. There was a time in history when my son would not have been able to live as a free man. As Americans, we reflect on these eras in history as dark times and the abolishment of these laws as triumphant. It amazes me that even today we are fighting battles for equal rights. I can only pray that in my walk of life I am demonstrating my support for all mankind by my daily actions. It is through oppression that we perpetuate the inability for this world to find peace. If we could each open the eyes of just ONE person we might just be able to win this fight. (Posted on 5/23/13)

Everyone has the right to be themselves by John - Kansas City, Ks
I spent a good portion of my life believing homophobic ideals. It wasn't until I was serving my country overseas that I awakened to the realization that ALL people deserve love and respect. I am ashamed of how I used to think and I can only hope that by being part of HRC I can help others understand that people are people and love conquers all. (Posted on 12/1/12)

Fighting the good fight! by Jolene - Kailua Kona, HI
I vote with my feet, and spend with my heart. I'm proud to carry an HRC messenger bag and post my HRC sticker on my vehicle to help the LGBT community. All for one and one for all...
Straight, but praying for equality for all not just in our lifetime, but like, YESTERDAY. (Posted on 10/8/12) -
Open Minded by Edie - Ft. Lauderdale, FL
I was once told I am so open minded my brain will fall out one day. Truth be told from childhood, I learned to love and not pass judgement. I taught the same to my daughter. She took heed early on. I am so very proud of her! She is in a commited relationship with a transgender individual who is my daughter's LOVE. I am extremely supportive and PROUD of them as individuals and their relationship. I have wanted to show my support in other ways and HRC has granted my wish. THANK YOU! (Posted on 8/14/12)

Young by Mark - Grande Prairie, AB, Canada
I am Straight. I am also a Junior in high school and am the leader of my schools Gay Straight Alliance. I was raised in a home where LGBT people were never discussed. But going down my own path I have come to understand that they are amazing people and deserve to have an equal chance in life. I have met some fabulous young LGBT people who have all come together to make a difference in our community. (Posted on 8/11/12)

Born Out by Ruth Louisville Ky
I was Born Out of the closet. I've been a member of the Gay commuinty for 30 years. I've been discriminated against. I've seen positive changes in the world also. I live in Louisville Ky and will be marching in the Pride Parade with my Girlfriend. We both work for Humana one of the biggest employers in Louisville.
I'm proud of my city and the company I work for. (Posted on 6/7/12) -
Keeping it in the Family by Maggie Mauriceville TX
When my mom came out several years after she and my dad divorced, she had to fight the nightmare of family response from both sides, and then due to an illness, had to allow my father and step-mother to raise my younger sister and I for about ten years. As soon as my so called "dad" found out that I too was gay, he immediately called my mom and had her pick me up that day...as "I was out of control", as a 17 year old young woman, who know who she was. I now live happily "out" with my mom, and HRC has been part of her beginning education and gift to me of a wider world in Southeast TX. Thanks to ALL my current blessings, in the sometimes too narrow world of the area I was raised in. (Posted on 5/11/12)

We're all the same! by Nicola - Orlando, FL
I'm a straight woman who has worked in theatre my entire life and I've always been surrounded by people from all different ethnicities, cultures and sexualities, and we're all the same. We're all here to live our lives and love who we love, and we should all be afforded the same rights. Period. (Posted on 2/23/12)

I'm just like Amelia by Robin - Richmond, VA
I'm a straight woman in a relationship with my twin boys' father for 7 years now. I have gay friends that have been together for much longer than that. Its frustrating to watch this as a "battle' when we are just talking about equal rights. (Posted on 8/26/11)
