After moving from a tiny, rural, closed-minded mountain town, I chose to wear this shirt on my first ATL outing. Quite literally each place I went (grocery store, Subway, post office, MARTA), multiple people would smile, nod, and many even verbally acknowledged my shirt. I am a straight mom that supports and loves her daughter with all my heart! I am going to buy a few shirts to wear when I got out places with her and her fiance. Unfortunately I live in a small town in east Texas but I KNOW that one person can make a difference. Last February the high school where I taught (where my girls graduated from) got their first GBLT club for students, they know have a Gay-Straight Alliance! It took me almost 2 years to get it!!! There are 35 active members. I actually quit my job in February because the amount of stress and bullying I received over the whole thing was taking a toll on my health mentally and physically. But there are three wonderful teachers that have come out since I started it! And there are 3 straight teachers who are supporters and are now the sponsors! One step at a time, even if its a baby step and a lot of pushing, pushing, pushing, will start moving mountains!

Apparently this shirt is too offensive for the San Diego Zoo to allow its visitors to wear. They wouldn't let me in with it on. Well I still wear it proudly, and I won't let anyone silence my support of gay rights and marriage equality! (Posted on 6/18/12)

I am a straight mother of a gay son & I couldn't be prouder of him, not only as a son but also as the man he has become. I just want to do my best to support him and LGBT rights. I saw this shirt and couldn't help but laugh. I can't wait to wear it proudly!!
